The 500 and the Breakfast Raffle
Because of technical difficulties, I joined the meeting as President Eddie was asking Bruce about side bids as part of the Barre 500 car race fundraiser. He gave examples, such as, a sponsor who has the most miles, the current race car in the lead or the best car name. The cost of making side bids would be $2.00 and winners would receive gift certificates. Several questions were raised and it was decided that details regarding side bids would need to be discussed and presented to the membership. Discussion continued regarding the fundraiser of printing breakfast tickets with numbers for a raffle in lieu of having the breakfast and the Barre 500. Bob Pope urged that the two events remain separate with the raffle alternative being earmarked for the Aldrich and the 500 be a general fundraiser. Other ideas regarding breakfasts being distributed and blending the two events were also discussed. Further consideration will continue at future meetings. For the Rotary 500 fundraising idea, contact Nicole DiDomenico, Linday Lozier, Bruce Fischer or Tony Campos.
Reports and Announcements
(Reminder from a previous email.)
Joe Shadroui announced that next Wednesday, June 3rd, his uncle, (and fellow Rotarian) Dick Shardoui will be celebrating his 96th birthday. The idea of flooding him with birthday cards from family and friends has emerged and so please join the effort.
His address is: Richard Shadroui

Joe reported that physically he seems strong, his attitude is positive and cheerful and he certainly has not become an angry old man. This despite having every reason to be angry! Cognitively not as good, but intermittently, he will happily recognize people on phone calls. He may not hold that recognition for an entire call, but non the less he is happy to hear from family and friends. Nurse's station phone: 802-371-4750 ; charge nurse Kayla O'Reilly.
Tom reported that he, Nicole, Joe Preddy and Joe Shadroui have been meeting on the distribution of additional masks; some will go to Good Samaritan and the Senior Center. John suggested that dentist offices could be points of distribution. A donation to Barre Rotary could be asked of recipients.
Loren reported on the “Drive-In Movie” fundraiser idea. Like the Annual Breakfast, it would bring the community together, but at a safe social distance. She described a similar event outside of Syracuse, N.Y. For the "Drive-In Movie" fundraising idea, please contact Lauren Polk to discuss where, when, how, and other logistics.
