Early Eating and Non-Viewing Result in Bucks in the Basket
On August 25th, fourteen Rotarians met at the American Legion to enjoy another buffet luncheon catered by Delicate Decadence. The first fines of the day were levied on Doug and Lindsey for eating before the ringing of the bell. When the defense of being an Honorary Member and not subject to fines didn’t hold up, Doug paid the fine. Lindsey paid hers
without protest. Eddie was accused and noted that he had his food, but had not eaten it until after the rituals had been completed. Karl proposed a fine for those who had not seen the picture on FaceBook of Doug’s granddaughter, Bianca, with the World Trade Center in the background. Without any defense offered, the fine passed. George gave a Happy Dollar because Lindsey was honest in admitting that she had started eating before the bell had rung.

Bruce called on me for President Tony to present two truths and a lie. I responded that he had ignored my request. In his defense he said that since he didn’t want his already long proboscis to grow any longer with a lie. If it was to grow, he was trying to think of a lie of “epic” proportions. Obviously he did not and paid the fine. Up next week,
Reports
Lindsey reported on our brunch event, as part of the Barre Fall Festival, which will take place at the Granite Museum between 11-2 on Saturday, October 2nd. Two breweries will be
pouring beer for tasting, Delicate Decadence will provide food and members of Kiwanis will assist. Marketing is in the works.
Karl reported that almost all of the thirty volunteer slots for the Barre Art Splash have been filled. After announcing that he needed another team for placing
signs, Eddie and Tony stepped up to the plate.
Back to Bucks and the Buck Doesn’t Have Anywhere to Stop Next Year
Tony did not show up for his stint at Meals-on-Wheels and before a fine could be proposed, he threw a buck in the basket. Caroline gave a Happy Dollar because of the joy of having former President Bob Blow return and join us as a member again. She also announced that PETS will be virtual again this year. This led to a discussion of not having a President-Elect to participate. Caroline suggested that a more in depth discussion of leadership opportunities and holding the office of President at the club level be part of a future Club Assembly. Members agreed.
