Major Joe Bosley is the Commander of Capital Composite Squadron located in Berlin, VT. He leads the squadron’s members in fulfilling the U.S. Air Force Auxiliary’s congressionally chartered missions of Emergency Services, Cadet Programs, and Aerospace Education.
Maj. Bosley is a native of Vermont, growing up in Colchester. He first joined CAP in the spring of 1985 as a cadet attaining the rank of Cadet First Lieutenant. After a long break to serve in the U.S, Army, Maj Bosley returned to Civil Air Patrol in the summer of 2019. Since then, he has served in multiple roles at the squadron and wing level including the Vermont Wing Director of Cadet Programs and Director of Education and training. He holds Master ratings in Cadet Programs, Aerospace Education, and Professional Development. His CAP awards include the Commanders Commendation, Disaster relief Ribbon with “V” Device, and the Gill Robb Wilson Award.
Maj, Bosley retired from the U.S. Army after 21 years of service as an Infantryman. During his time in the Army, he completed multiple tours in the Middle East in both Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Outside of Civil Air Patrol, Maj. Bosley works for Norwich University as a member for the Commandants Professional Staff where he coaches and mentor’s young men and women to become the leaders of tomorrow. He has a Master of Organizational Leadership and Master of Military History from Norwich University. He lives in Northfield, VT with his wife Kelli. Together they have 3 daughters.
